Domaine Marchand-Grillot
Gevrey-Chambertin 'En Songe' 2017
Village Gevrey-Chambertin from the En Songe lieu-dit near the Premier Cru Champeaux, where vines planted in 1982 grow in poor yellow marl. It ferments with native yeasts and ages about 18 months in one-year-old barrels, and is often called the most elegant of the domaine's Gevreys. Critics describe vivid raspberry fruit and a long, layered finish.

About the producer
Domaine Marchand-Grillot
Côte de Nuits domaine created in 1950 when the Marchand family of Morey-Saint-Denis married into the Grillot family of Gevrey-Chambertin. Jacques Marchand runs it with his children Etienne and Marion, farming about 9 hectares in 48 parcels that are picked and vinified separately. The house style favors early picking, some whole clusters, native yeasts and little new oak.
