Gilles Lesimple
Sancerre 2025
Sancerre from a Chavignol family estate with south- and southwest-facing vines on all three classic Sancerre soils: limestone, flint and white Kimmeridgian marl ('terres blanches'). The plots are vinified separately in temperature-controlled cement tanks. Tasting notes point to citrus, green apple and flint, and one critic called the 2021 smoky and very tense.

About the producer
Gilles Lesimple
Gilles Lesimple is the fourth generation of a winegrowing family in Chavignol, Sancerre, and has worked the vines since 1997 after training at an American winery. He farms about 10 hectares, 85% Sauvignon Blanc, across the three main Sancerre soils (limestone, flint and terres blanches), with minimal intervention and grass cover in some rows. The bottles carry the name Domaine Lesimple et Fils.
