Bodegas Covila
Rioja Tinto 2025
Covila's young Rioja Alavesa red is all Tempranillo from vineyards near the Ebro (Lapuebla de Labarca, Elciego) and higher villages such as Laguardia and Samaniego. Most of the grapes are destemmed, with a small share fermented as whole bunches in the traditional carbonic-maceration style, all in temperature-controlled steel. It is bright cherry-violet in colour, with red fruit and strawberry, and drinks fresh and easy with a fruity, slightly balsamic finish.

About the producer
Bodegas Covila
Bodegas Covila was founded in 1989 by a group of grape growers in Lapuebla de Labarca, in Rioja Alavesa. It farms about 250 hectares of its own vineyards, on sites from the Ebro riverbanks up to higher villages such as Laguardia and Samaniego, and makes around 1.5 million bottles a year, from young reds through Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva.
