Castello Romitorio
Brunello di Montalcino 2020
Castello Romitorio's classic Brunello comes from old and young Sangiovese vines on the northwest flank of the Montalcino hill, with grapes sorted before and after destemming. A short cold soak precedes a warmer steel fermentation and spontaneous malolactic. The wine then ages at least 24 months in oak and four more in bottle. The label is a Sandro Chia painting of a centaur, first made for Tony May's Palio restaurant in New York.

About the producer
Castello Romitorio
A windowless medieval castle on one of the highest, most exposed hilltops on the northwest side of Montalcino. Italian painter Sandro Chia bought it as a ruin in 1984 and restored it; he and his son Filippo run the estate, and Sandro's artwork appears on the labels. It is best known for Brunello di Montalcino, plus Super Tuscans from Maremma fruit.
