Castello Romitorio
Romitorio Toscana IGT 2021
A modern Super Tuscan blending Syrah and Petit Verdot, which retailers say is grown in the Scansano area of Maremma and vinified at the Montalcino winery. It ferments in steel tanks, then rests in cement before bottling. The producer calls it energetic, combining opulence with elegance and persistence. The label reproduces a small pencil drawing of a bull by Sandro Chia.

About the producer
Castello Romitorio
A windowless medieval castle on one of the highest, most exposed hilltops on the northwest side of Montalcino. Italian painter Sandro Chia bought it as a ruin in 1984 and restored it; he and his son Filippo run the estate, and Sandro's artwork appears on the labels. It is best known for Brunello di Montalcino, plus Super Tuscans from Maremma fruit.
