Jean-Paul Paquet
Pouilly-Fuissé 2024
Traditional Pouilly-Fuissé from 30- to 50-year-old vines on the clay-limestone slopes around Fuissé. The grapes are hand-harvested, pressed gently and fermented with native yeasts in large 25-hectoliter French oak foudres, then go through malolactic and age about nine months. The UK importer describes intense citrus and minerality with nutty, buttery depth, balanced by crisp acidity.

About the producer
Jean-Paul Paquet
Family estate in Fuissé, in the southern Mâconnais. Jean-Paul Paquet's grandfather grew grapes and made barrels, and his father re-established the domaine in Pouilly-Fuissé. Jean-Paul took over in 1978 and, with his wife Monique, grew it to nearly 30 hectares in Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran; their son Yannick, trained in enology, now works with them. Harvest is by hand, and the family also bottles under the Domaine de Fussiacus and Domaine Les Vieux Murs names.
