Jean-Paul Paquet
Saint-Véran 2024
Saint-Véran from 35-year-old Chardonnay vines on clay and limestone near Fuissé, a style closer to neighboring Pouilly-Fuissé than to the leaner wines of the appellation's sandy south. One third is fermented in used French oak for richness and two thirds in stainless steel for freshness. Tasting notes cite green apple, pear and lemon curd with a light saline, mineral finish.

About the producer
Jean-Paul Paquet
Family estate in Fuissé, in the southern Mâconnais. Jean-Paul Paquet's grandfather grew grapes and made barrels, and his father re-established the domaine in Pouilly-Fuissé. Jean-Paul took over in 1978 and, with his wife Monique, grew it to nearly 30 hectares in Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran; their son Yannick, trained in enology, now works with them. Harvest is by hand, and the family also bottles under the Domaine de Fussiacus and Domaine Les Vieux Murs names.
