Pietranera
Brunello di Montalcino 2020
From a single block of vineyard on the southeast side of Montalcino, on volcanic, quartz-rich soils sheltered by Monte Amiata. Gently crushed fruit ferments in temperature-controlled steel with about 20 days on the skins. The wine then ages around two and a half years in 30- and 50-hl Slavonian oak and about a year in bottle. The producer describes crisp cherry, pomegranate, rosehip and graphite, taut acidity, fine tannins and a long mineral finish.

About the producer
Pietranera
Pietranera is one of the Montalcino estates of the Peluso Centolani family (Società Agricola Centolani), alongside Tenuta Friggiali. Its vines form one contiguous block on the southeast side of the Montalcino hill near Sant'Antimo, facing Monte Amiata, on volcanic, quartz-rich soils. Sangiovese is fermented in steel and aged in large Slavonian oak casks; the first Brunello was made in 1983.
