Thorn-Clarke
Shotfire Shiraz 2021
Named for the shotfirer who lit the charges in the Barossa gold mine an ancestor discovered, Shotfire is Thorn-Clarke's classic Barossa Shiraz from the St Kitts and Milton Park vineyards. Destemmed fruit is pumped over twice a day, fermented at 22-25°C and aged 14 months in American oak (40% new hogsheads). The 2021 shows black cherry, plum and blackberry with baking spice, a round, plush palate of dark berries, licorice and chocolate, and fine tannins.

About the producer
Thorn-Clarke
Thorn-Clarke is a family-owned Barossa winery in Angaston, South Australia, run by the Clarke and Thorn families, whose Barossa roots go back to the 1870s. David and Cheryl Clarke bought their first vineyard near Tanunda in 1987 and sold fruit to other wineries for a decade before making their own Shiraz from the 1998 vintage. The family farms around 240 hectares across the Barossa and Eden valleys and also produces the Milton Park range.
