The estate's top white: pure Roussanne from the north-facing La Fontaine plots of clay-sand and limestone, which keep the grapes fresh as they ripen. Whole-bunch pressed, then fermented and aged in oak, it is golden and rich, with citrus, tropical fruit, quince, honey and a touch of vanilla, plus great length; a white for serious food.

Domaine Grand Veneur
Domaine Grand Veneur is the Jaume family's flagship estate, founded in 1979 by Alain and Odile Jaume in the northern sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with cellars just outside Orange. The family has grown grapes here since 1826, and the vineyards are farmed organically: shallow ploughing, plant composts, hand leaf-thinning and bunch-by-bunch sorting.
