Domaine Grand Veneur
Côtes du Rhône 'Les Champauvins' 2023
A single vineyard of 34 hectares on the northern edge of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, separated from it only by a gravel path, on marine molasse covered in heat-storing galets. Grenache is aged in concrete and Syrah and Mourvèdre in older barrels; the result is dense and full-bodied, with pepper, raspberry, cherry liqueur, currant and spice, often called a 'baby Châteauneuf'.

About the producer
Domaine Grand Veneur
Domaine Grand Veneur is the Jaume family's flagship estate, founded in 1979 by Alain and Odile Jaume in the northern sector of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with cellars just outside Orange. The family has grown grapes here since 1826, and the vineyards are farmed organically: shallow ploughing, plant composts, hand leaf-thinning and bunch-by-bunch sorting.
